Summer is getting so close now, and I know for some (lucky) people it has already begun! With the majority of you flying out to America over the next few weeks, I asked CCUSA to answer some questions about your journey to camp and other vital information, such as insurance.
1. I chose the flight option but haven’t received my flight details yet, when will they come through?
This is one of our most common questions. However, there is no need to panic! We usually book flights about 4-6 weeks before you fly to America. If it gets to the point where you still haven’t got your flight information on footprints and you fly in 3 weeks then please give us a call and we can sort this out for you. Once your flights are booked, the information will appear under the travel section of your footprints page. On here, you will see a reference number. Information such as your seat number, baggage allowance etc. won’t show up – to get this all you need to do is go to the website of the airline you are flying with and type in the reference number.
2. Is there a way I can find out if anyone else is on my flight?
We usually try and make sure you fly with someone else heading to camp as well. They may not be going to the same camp as you, or you might be lucky and there might be a group of you all going to the same camp. However, there is no way of us giving those details beforehand. Feel free to tweet us with your flights date and time and we will retweet it for you.
3. Will anyone meet me at the airport?
On the day that you fly to camp there won’t be anyone who meets you at the airport. However, don’t be worried. We are still here to help you. If there are any problems at the airport then you can just give us a call and we will help you the best we can. All tickets are E-Tickets so all you need to do is keep hold of the reference number and you are all ready to go. Just make sure you turn up to the airport in plenty of time and remember your passport and DS2019.
4. How do I get to camp from the airport?
If you chose the flight option with us then we will sort this all out for you. All of the information you need to get to camp will be supplied before you leave. A lot of camps will meet you at the airport and give you a place in the airport to meet beforehand. Other camps will want you to get a bus, but you will know this before you head to America. If you picked the non-flight option then it is down to you to talk to camp to ask if there are any arrangements to get to camp. I would advise sending them an email asap to get these details and it will make your life a lot less stress-free.
5. What travel insurance do I need?
With the fees that you have already paid to CCUSA you get a standard insurance policy. This covers you for only the time you are contracted to work at camp. However, this doesn’t cover any pre-existing health conditions. I would highly recommend taking out extra insurance for the duration of your trip in the States, especially if you are travelling after camp is finished. CCUSA will not cover you once you leave camp. A lot of camps will also have their own insurance for when you are at camp but it is always better to be safe than sorry.
